The House of Representatives has hit back at former President Olusegun Obasanjo for calling the latter corrupt.
The House, through its spokesperson, Abdulrazak Namdas, called Obasanjo the father of corruption in the countryNamdas, the chairman of the House committee on media and public affairs, said this in a statement to respond to a recent attack on the National Assembly by Obasanjo.
Namdas said the reaction of the House was already captured in its earlier reply in 2016 that Obasanjo remained the grandfather of corruption in Nigeria.
He added that the National Assembly was used to attacks from ObasanjoThe reaction of the House followed Obasanjo’s comment in Minna, Niger state, to the effect that the constituencyprojects of the National Assembly was an avenue for corruption.
“We won’t respond to any corruption allegations by Obasanjo against us anymore.“We have replied him enough and our position remains what we said earlier.
“I refer you to our comprehensive position on Obasanjo in 2016. That is still our position,”he said.
It was reported recently thatreported Chief Olusegun Obasanjo remarked on the constituency projects being embarked upon by lawmakers while saying it is ‘corruption’.
Reports have it that Obasanjo made thisknown at the opening of a two-day investment forum organised by the Niger state government in Minna on Monday, August 14. According to him, ”You and I know what constituency projects mean. It is simply corruption.
