According to a statement signed by the director of public relations and information of the Nigerian Air Force, Olatokubo Adesanya, the security chiefs are in Maiduguri largely to celebrate the 57th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria with the frontline personnel who are fighting terrorism in the northeast.

This, according to the Nigerian Air Force, is expected to serve as a morale booster to the frontline personnel and to let them know that the nation appreciates their sacrifices.

The security chiefs are also seizing the opportunity to interact with relevant field commanders involved in the counterterrorism operations.
