The present administration of Chad Republic has made a conventional solicitation to the government to connect the nation to the Nigerian power network.
Chadian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abakar Saleh Chachaimi made the solicitation during a visit to the Minister of Power, Engr. Deal Mamman in Abuja.
While the ambassador focused on the authentic and financial benefit of associating Chad to Nigeria’s power grid, the Minister of Power on his own part said it would help in upgrading the long existing relations between the two nations.
Mamman who endorsed the solicitation to have his partner from the Republic of Chad for a specialized investigation of the solicitation, said Nigeria would assess it inside the different tasks under the Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Program (TREP) for conceivable mix.
The Minister said;
“I, therefore, direct the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) whose representatives are part of this meeting, to come up with a business case and implementation modalities. Based on that, we will write to the Presidency to secure all the necessary approvals.”
Mamman uncovered that under the structure of the West African Power Pool (WAPP) target of advancing force trade among ECOWAS member states, the Republics of Benin, Burkina-Faso, Niger and Nigeria are building a 875 kilometer 330 kilovolt power transmission line, the “North Core Transmission line”.
Mamman additionally educated the Chadian delegation that presently, Nigeria has two-sided contracts for providing power to Niger Republic and Benin Republic which has been progressing for a considerable length of time.
