The Benin Traditional Council (BTC), has exposed claims that the Benin ruler, Oba Ewaure II, offended President Muhammadu Buhari.
BTC in an announcement made by its Secretary, Mr Frank Irabor, portrayed as phony news, the viral video via social networking media dispersed by one Eranomigho Edegbe, that he mocked on President Muhammadu Buhari.
The ruler likewise censured the slanders cast on the people of Mr Adams Oshiomhole, a previous governor of Edo and Capt. Hosa Okunbo, by a similar video.
Irabor focused on that the ruler has a cheerful relationship with Buhari which goes back to the President’s days as the Head, Petroleum Trust Fund (PTF).
“His Royal Majesty wishes to categorically and irrevocably clear that the video and the contents making rounds on social media therein was not commissioned nor was it encouraged by the Oba.
“We condemn in the strongest terms the malicious attacks on the integrity of President Buhari and all other persons whom the video seeks to malign.
“Our love for the President is unparalleled as the cordial relationship dates back to days of late Oba Erediauwa, the immediate past Oba of Benin, which extended to the present monarch.
“We also wish to state that Oshiomhole has always respected, not just the traditional institutions in Edo, but also the Palace of the Oba of Benin.
The ruler focused on that the relationship with Oshiomhole was strengthened during his tenure as the governor of Edo.
“Oshimhole’s affection for our father who adopted the comrade as a son is well known,” the statement added.
Irabor takes note of that Capt. Hosa Okunbo is a distinguished child of the Palace of the Oba of Benin, henceforth, there can be only generosity towards him.
He further prompted people in general to ignore the video.
