The Youth and Women wing of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Edo section, on Saturday, restricted the waiver allowed Governor Godwin Obaseki by the national leadership.
The waiver empowers Obaseki, who just absconded from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), challenge in the PDP primary on Tuesday.
Obaseki was screened on Saturday.
Under the support of PDP Youths for Justice, an announcement by the coordinator, Musa Kadiri, cautioned the party authority to compensate loyalty instead of searching for opportunities.
He noticed that the three applicants – Ken Imasuagbon, Gideon Ikhine and Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama – were fit for defeating any competitor the APC would introduce.
NAN cited Kadiri as notice that the PDP may witness implosion if Obaseki was given the ticket on a platter of gold.
“We, the youths on ground in Edo know that the PDP has positioned itself to win the forthcoming gubernatorial election. We do not need Obaseki who is chased out of the APC based on questionable credentials”, he said.
Additionally, PDP ladies wing in Egor Local Government led by Mrs. Imuwahen Osasu, said the Edo PDP didn’t require Obaseki.
She said the election gave another chance to remunerate those that have been faithful to the party for more than 12 years that the party has been out of power in the state.
