The death of Bashar Barakah Jackson AKA “Pop smoke” really touched the soul of the rap music, on the 19th February 2020 Pop smoke was killed during a home invasion. 20 year old Jackson was already set to release the album “Meet the woo 2” before he unfortunately passed. Pop smoke’s parents made their voices heard as they protested against gun violence.
Pop smoke’s parents Audrey and Greg Jackson have worked hand in hand with the Entertainments 4 Education Alliance/I WILL GRADUATE in order to prevent more gun violence in the future.
This will also warn youths about gun violence, in 2020 there were over 1,000 shootings and almost 300 murders in Jackson’s home town of the big Apple. Just under one year ago, pop smoke was also a victim of gun violence in the Hollywood Hills and now his parents Audrey and Greg Jackson are committed to helping prevent more tragedies with a new PSA.
“Because of gun violence, I’ll never see my son run up the front of our steps, taking them two at a time,” Mrs. Jackson says in the clip, which also features Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams. “He won’t ever take my hands again and dance with me. He won’t come into my room and muscle pose in the mirror. Gun violence destroys families. It must stop.”
Pop smoke was still a growing star, his debut album was a big hit and he would never be forgotten in rap music.
